Abstract
2015 was marked by significant achievements in the field of molecular genetics, namely, progress in development of technology allowing to detect defective parts of the genome, to cut them out and to replace with healthy ones. Research on human fertilized eggs had already started. The technology of genes “editing” is extremely promising in terms of treatment of genetic disorders, but some of its potential applications, such as an irreversible change in the germline genes or “enhancing” effect on the human genome, have been the object of fierce debate among professionals as well as in the wider public. The article deals with the content and results of some of these discussions.
